Anna D’Souza is an artist, educator, and activist. She transforms negative black space into elegant illustrations of nature and geometric patterns using minimalist color schemes. Anna D’Souza is an artist, educator, and activist. She transforms negative black space into elegant illustrations of nature and geometric patterns using minimalist color schemes. Her intricate drawings are inspired by the rich cultural traditions of her Indian heritage. Anna holds a bachelor’s degree from NYU and a master’s and doctorate from UCLA. She is proud to be a professor at the City University of New York. She lives in Battery Park City with her husband and two children.
I work with metallic paint markers, mostly in gold and silver and on black paper. I also use watercolor and acrylic on paper, with gold and silver highlights.While I work mostly on small scale art, I am exploring large scale collages and installations.
